Blake Lively's hair: how to recreate the looks

April 29, 2015

Blake Lively floored fans with her impeccable style as she promoted new film Age of Adaline. The 27-year-old has not only rocked over ten different stylish outfits in the space of a mere few days, but she also switched up her hairstyles whether her blonde tresses were in tousled waves or full blown old Hollywood glamour with sideswept curls.

Rod Ortega, the hairstylist behind Blake's chic 'dos, reveals how they achieved her versatile looks as well as his top tips for recreating her look.

Blake Lively rocked a series of glamorous hairstyles

Why was it important for Blake to have a different hairstyle for each event that day?

Every hairstyle was inspired by her fashion choices that day. She had 10 different outfit changes, which meant ten different hair looks. These designers truly make works of art, and my job is to make the hair accent that.

How long did you have to style the hair between events?

Sometimes I literally only had a few minutes. She changed her look before she left anywhere. For example, at Good Morning America she had her hair down with loose waves. Before she left that America studio, she changed into a Roksanda dress and coat so I quickly gave her a low sleek pony, using the waves I had already made for her first look.

What was the methodology behind the looks? Was it easier to go from straight in the morning to curly at night, or vice versa?

We started with waves in the morning for Good Morning America. I used the T3 BodyWaver. I was able to use that tool for all of her day looks – loose waves, smaller waves, old hollywood retro waves, large body waves, etc. And then at night it was easier to transition to sleek, chic, straight hair.

Rod Ortega used T3 styling tools to create Blake's look including the T3 Body Waver, T3 SinglePass X, T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Dryer.
