Ah!!!!!" she captioned a quirky selfie of herself pretending to be shocked as she sat in the salon chair as her hairstylist put the finishing touches on her fresh new look. The new style marks a drastic makeover for the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress, who has rarely strayed from long tresses in recent years.

Earlier this week Kate topped best-dressed lists around the world as she arrived for the Met Gala on Monday night. The mother-of-two was a golden goddess in a stretch tulle gown by Michael Kors as she made her way up the infamous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art at the opening of the China: Through the Looking Glass exhibition. Her hair and beauty look also wowed fans as she opted to wear her then-long locks into a chic high bun, accessorising with a dazzling statement floral headpiece.
No doubt the star has been keeping busy in recent months, after she and rocker fiancé Matt Bellamy called off their engagement and officially separated, with her rep confirming the news in December. Since then, Matt has reportedly begun dating model and actress Elle Evans after being introduced through mutual friends. A source told E! News that the relationship is "getting serious", but the 25-year-old has not yet met Matt and Kate's three-year-old son Bingham.
The pair have reportedly stayed friends. "Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now," Kate's representative told People magazine in December. "Despite this, they remain very close friends and committed co-parents."
