Posting a photo montage of series of hair extensions in a wide range of lengths and colours on Instagram, Jen explained that "it's 2015" and that women should be free to do as they please when it comes to their beauty look.

"I'm always reading comments like "I bet it's extensions" or "she will probably just put in extensions" "that's not here hair"," she wrote in the caption to her 879,000 followers. "Guys, Hair Extensions ARE NOT bad or something to be embarrassed by. It's 2015. We have lash extensions, hair bleach, hair dye, and PLENTY of options for hair extensions (I've tagged a few)."

She added: "Do whatever makes YOU happy and let's all just be grateful we have the option! We all just want to feel pretty! Lord knows I'm sure it's saved women recovering from bad haircuts or health issues.

Khloé Kardashian turned to Jen for a recent makeover

"Oh and one more note: GUYS DON'T CARE!! If A guy isn't with you because you wear extensions? BYE FELICIA!! #Its2015 #WHOCARES."

Jen, who has also styled stars including Katy Perry, Chrissy Teigen and Sofia Vergara, was quickly flooded with comments from fans praising her for speaking candidly.

That's not to say that Jen always favours long hair when she's working with the stars – the hairstylist was behind Khloé Kardashian's recent makeover, when the Keeping up with the Kardashians star chose to chop her hair into a long bob.

"I chose a fresh 'fashion lob' that hits right below the collarbone for Khloé's new cut," Jen told People. "I kept the ends blunt and layered throughout the top for lots of movement and texture." She added that she used a "lot of sea salt spray" and Kardashian Beauty products to give the cut lots of volume and texture.
