Lea Michele debuts fresh new 'do for the festive season

December 8, 2015

Lea Michele revealed that she took the plunge and had her hair cut short for the first time in recent months on Monday night. The 29-year-old shared the experience with her fans, posting before and after shots as she had her long brunette tresses chopped into a shoulder-length style.

Lea Michele looked nervous as she sat in the salon chair

The former Glee star posted a photo on Twitter of herself sat in the salon chair, looking nervous with her head in her hands and her eyes closed as celebrity hairstylist Lona Vigi – who also works with stars including Reese Witherspoon and Selena Gomez – made the first cut into her long, luscious tresses.

However, Lea revealed she was excited about going for a fresh new look ahead of the party season. "Feeling like it's time for a little change," she captioned the candid image. "@LonaVigi cut away!"

Just a few hours later, the Scream Queens actress proudly showed off the results. The TV star gave her 2.6 million Instagram followers a sneak peek of her new 'do, posting a sultry selfie of herself with her chocolate brown hair now falling just below her shoulders.

Lea flaunted her new 'do in a striking selfie

"Short hair don't care!" she wrote alongside the snap, which sees her complementing her new hairstyle with a stylish red blazer. "Thanks @lonavigi for my new hair cut! Glam: @lonavigi @adambreuchard @ashlie_johnson."

Lea is not the only star to have gone for the chop – short hair has been a major trend in recent months, with stars including Khloé Kardashian, Alessandra Ambrosio and Naomi Campbell all opting for bobs and shoulder-length styles.

Some stars haven't made the permanent change but did experiment with the look – model Gigi Hadid made waves at the AMAs earlier this year when she rocked a slicked back blonde bobbed wig.
