Alesha Dixon admits she didn't expect her bob to be 'so short'

Alesha Dixon caused a stir when she stepped out rocking an edgy blonde bob earlier this year – and now the singer has revealed what prompted her to make the change. The 37-year-old confessed that despite fancying a change, she was surprised when she ended up with hair that was "so short".

Alesha Dixon spoke to HELLO! Online about her hair at the London auditions

"You know what it's like, you just get bored," she told HELLO! Online at the Britain's Got Talent auditions in London. "I fancied a change and was like, 'New Year, tenth year, chop it off.'"

The Breathe Slow hitmaker admitted that boyfriend Azuka Ononye, with whom she has a daughter named Azura Sienna, encouraged her to take the plunge and go for a striking makeover.

"I didn't realise it was gonna go so short but my boyfriend has been telling me to chop it off for ages," she explained.

While Alesha has been sporting a shoulder-length long bob in recent months, the new look sees her rocking blonde locks that fall a few inches above her shoulders. However, just a few days after the going for the chop, the singer admitted she could be tempted to go even shorter in the future.

The singer admitted she didn't expect her bob to be 'so short'

"Originally it started here [shoulder length] and it was just like, a long bob, but he wants me to chop the lot off – like a Charlize Theron pixie cut. Because I've got a small head, I could probably get away with it. But we'll see by the live shows!"

Alesha - who has returned as a judge on the show alongside Simon Cowell, David Walliams and Amanda Holden - also opened up about her health and fitness routine, revealing she prefers to "be really laid back" in order to "enjoy life" rather than following a strict diet.

"For me I try and be really laidback about most things and not put too much pressure on myself really," she said. "I think a lot of women can pressure themselves and I think the more you kind of have an appreciation of life and you enjoy life and you're happy I think that's the best thing you can do."

She added: "I mean I do respect my body but I live and have fun and I think balance is key."
