January 26, 2016

Want soft, natural waves but don't have time to spend hours curling your tresses? Celebirity hairstylist Nicci Welsh has discovered the ultimate solution with her 'Scandi Wave' technique – and all you will need is a hairbrush, straighteners and a sectioning clip.

Nicci Welsh shared her tutorial for the Scandi Wave technique

Nicci, who has worked with stars from Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to Kylie Minogue, shared her trick for using straighteners to quickly create a glamorous wave in a tutorial on her YouTube channel, which has quickly gone viral with beauty addicts everywhere recreating the style.

There's no doubt her technique is easy and simple to follow. "[…] When I'm not sure what I want to do with my hair and I haven't got a lot of time, I always go to this technique," the Scandinavian beauty explains during the five minute clip.

She added: "I created this look so I could achieve a cool, effortless look on my own hair and also when working on fashion shoots or my celebrity clients."

To get the look, start with clean and dry hair, and spritz heat protecting and styling serums to prep your tresses. Next, part your locks down the middle and section off using clips.

Nicci's technique creates soft, beachy waves

Take a small section of hair and hold it in an 'S' shape, then use your straighteners to set the wave by gently tapping it along the curl.

Nicci warns that the smaller section you use, the curlier the locks – but this can be easier to manage as you can brush out to achieve the softer finish. Work your way down the section, each time gently setting the curls with your straighteners.

If you're after a particularly "relaxed, undone" style, Nicci suggests leaving the ends of your tresses straight – ideal for daytime glamour.
