Irina Shayk caused a stir on social media on Saturday when she debuted a short wavy blonde bob in a striking selfie, a stark contrast to her trademark long brunette tresses. However, the 30-year-old model took a leaf out of Kim Kardashian's book and opted for a wig, as the drastic makeover was only temporary.

It turns out that Irina's tousled blonde tresses were part of a look for a photoshoot she was working on with renowned fashion photograpgers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
When the Russian beauty posted the snap of her edgy look, she was giving her 5.3 million Instagram followers a sneak peek behind-the-scenes of the project, rather than revealing a permanent new style. "Who said I can't be blonde? @mertalas @macpiggott," she wrote in the accompanying caption.
Although compliments from fans began pouring in the comments section, less than a day later Irina's hair was soon back to its natural brunette tones.

The model, who is currently dating actor Bradley Cooper, posted a sweet selfie on Sunday night with a group of friends including Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci, in which she can be seen with dark brown tresses swept up into a sleek ponytail.
Irina isn't the first star to try out a bold blonde style by using a wig. Kim Kardashian made waves at husband Kanye West's New York Fashion Week show earlier this year when she stepped out rocking a platinum blonde poker straight pale hairstyle that fell down to her stomach.
The Keeping up with the Kardashians star later revealed that she had turned to wig makers Tokyo to help create her eye-catching hair – the same company used by her younger sister Kylie Jenner, who regularly steps out in the company's wigs.
