Cate Blanchett is the latest star to have joined the pink hair brigade. The 46-year-old was virtually unrecognisable as she stepped out in London on Wednesday with her sleek bob dyed into pastel pink hues.

The new look marks a bold makeover for the star, who has rarely strayed from her trademark blonde tresses in recent years. However it seems the Oscar-winning actress was after a change, and with bright coloured hair being a major beauty trend in recent weeks, Cate embraced the style and opted for candyfloss pink. Ever the fashionista, she also rocked pink aviator glasses to complement her new 'do.
It's not the first time this year that the Carol star has experimented with her look. When she headed to the Oscars in February she turned heads on the red carpet as she debuted a short bob, a stark contrast to the sleek long tresses she had been rocking in recent months.
Hairstylist Robert Vetica, the man behind the Elizabeth star's new look, revealed that although he and the mother-of-four had spoken about going for a different style, they decided to cut her hair short just a few hours before she was due to head to the ceremony.

"We knew we were going to do it. It was a plan. It was strategic," he told Pret-a-Reporter. "We had talked about it for a while, and decided to do it today. We thought it would be perfect because of the dress. And she's had her hair long for a couple years now, so we decided, let's just cut it off and start fresh."
He added: "She's Cate Blanchett – she can do whatever she wants!"
Often hailed as a beauty icon, Cate recently opened up about what beauty means to her.
"I don't think about being beautiful or not being beautiful. I think my kids are beautiful. It's more about feeling confident inside your own skin really and thinking about yourself as little as possible."
