Christina Aguilera has gone for a MAJOR hair makeover

May 11, 2016

Christina Aguilera is never one to shy away from experimenting with her look, and now the 35-year-old singer has unveiled one of her edgiest hairstyles to date. The star took to Instagram to reveal that she had dyed her trademark blonde hair an eye-catching shade of lavender.

Christina debuted her striking new 'do while filming an episode of The Voice USA, for which she is currently a judge. Wearing her hair down in a poker straight style, the Genie in a Bottle hitmaker showed off her beauty credentials by braiding the front section of her hair and adding a series of silver hoops for an edgy finish.

Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, who created the striking hairstyle, gave his own Instagram followers a closer look at Christina's 'do, with a close-up snap of the hooped braid, as well as the singer's bold purple matte lipstick and shimmering gold eyeshadow, teamed with a dramatic winged eyeliner look.

It's not the first time that Christina has dyed her hair into colourful hues. Previous years have seen her experiment with purple and pink dip dyes, platinum blonde and even a striking shade of black, while rocking a wide range of hairstyles from loose curls and braids to poker straight locks or retro-inspired waves.

It's been a busy few weeks for Christina, who is said to be producing new game show Tracks, which will reportedly air later this year. The show will see two teams battling to name a song title by listening to its individual tracks – and celebrity musical guests are expected to make appearances.

"Having finely tuned my ear for music over the years, I thought it would be fun to test other folks and see if they can identify a track — with a twist — since contestants will have to focus on a single component of a song," Christina told The Hollywood Reporter. "I’m excited to have Tracks debuting on Spike TV, and proud to have this as the first project springing from our first-look deal with Lionsgate."
