Kate beats the windy weather with stylish headband

July 8, 2016

The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, found a stylish way to fix a potential beauty mishap as she arrived for the International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on Friday. The 34-year-old, who joined husband Prince William and son Prince George at the show, found a quick solution when the windy weather blew her hair into her face, adding a gorgeous headband to keep her blow-dry in place.

The Duchess opted for a chic animal print headband

Arriving at the show the stylish royal struggled to keep her hair in place amidst the airplane engines and British weather, and was spotted quickly dashing back to the car to pick up the animal-printed plastic Alice headband.

The Duchess used the pretty headpiece to smooth her hair back, creating a slight quiff effect by leaving some volume at the front of her tresses, leaving the rest of her blow-dry worn down in her trademark cascading loose curls.

Kate quickly added the headband when she stepped out into the windy weather

It wasn't just Kate's beauty look which turned heads at the event. The mother-of-two showed off her style credentials in an elegant Stella McCartney dress, and navy blue Smythe blazer. It's not the first time that the Duchess has worn the vibrant shift dress, having opted for the ensemble to watch the tennis matches during the 2012 Olympics.

It's not the first time that Kate has opted for a hair accessory to keep her glossy tresses in place. When she joined Prince William and Prince Harry at the Somme Centenary commemorations in France, eagle-eyed royal enthusiasts noted that she was wearing a subtle hairnet that matched her natural hair colour almost to perfection, to stop her elegant chignon from falling out.

Kate previously sparked a hairnet trend

The British royal no doubt sparked a revival of the trend with the 'Kate Effect' already taking hold, as fans began trying out the look for themselves. It could be that Kate was inspired by the autumn/winter 2016 catwalk shows, where designers including Gucci and Isabel Marant accessorising their models' outfits with veils and hairnets.
