Ryan Lochte has gone for a major makeover ahead of the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro later this month. The 31-year-old took some time out from his hectic training schedule to head to the salon, where he had his brown hair dyed into an eye-catching icy shade of pale blue.

The Olympic gold medallist took to Instagram to share give his followers a sneak peek at his new 'do, which has seen him bleach his hair before adding the turquoise tones. "New look…. Here We Go #Rio#2016 thanks @jennjonesatl #turnup#lightblue," he captioned a snap of himself smouldering for the camera, dressed in a white T-shirt and pale grey jeans.
Turning to stylist Jenn Jones to create the look, Ryan wasn't the only member of Team USA to take the plunge and try the bold colour. Fellow swimmer and teammate Jimmy Feigen also opted for an almost-identical style, and Jenn showed off her handiwork by sharing a photo of herself with the two heartthrobs on Instagram.

"Got to spend a few hours with these babes yesterday," she wrote in the photo's accompanying caption. "Thanks for trusting me with your Olympic hair @ryanlochte and @jimmyfeigen. Now go win some gold medals!!!! #teamusa #usaswimming #rioolympics #rioolympics2016 #jennjoneshair #organichaircolor #bluehair #oway #bestcoloristatlanta."
Earlier that day, Ryan had teased his social media followers by sharing a photo of himself sat in the salon chair, wearing a plastic cap as he waited for the dye to take effect. Although he hinted that he was going for a new colour, the swimmer didn't reveal that it was going to be such a bold change.

Instead, he beamed for the camera while enjoying a snack and simply wrote: "Me hungry!! @jennjonesatl #newlook #dye."
With the Olympics opening ceremony set to take place on Friday, no doubt Ryan will be heading to Rio de Janeiro soon for the competition. The athlete has been giving his fans a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of his intense training routine, but took some time out to share a few fun photos as he trained in the pool, including a selfie with Michael Phelps after the pair went head-to-head in a practice race.
