Kim Kardashian shocked fans when she stepped out rocking a sleek new long bob hairstyle on Sunday, but the Keeping up with the Kardashian had another surprise in store for her followers. Taking to her eponymous website, Kim admitted that her dramatic makeover was only temporary, revealing that her new 'do is actually a wig.
Kim Kardashian has revealed her lob is actually a wig
"I've been saying for SO long that I want to cut my hair," she wrote in a post titled All About My New Lob: It's A Wig!. "So the day before Kylie's event for Kylie Cosmetics, I decided to achieve the look a different way: a wig!"
She added: "Everyone is saying I chopped my hair, but it's all an illusion!"
There's no doubt that the mother-of-two caused a frenzy amongst beauty addicts when she first debuted the style, which marked a stark contrast to her usually long and wavy locks. Kim also teased them by taking to Snapchat to share a series of gorgeous selfies as she showed off the new 'do, which has an edgy asymmetric length.

To help achieve the striking look, the beauty icon turned to hairstylist Christopher Appleton, who already boasts a celebrity following including Rita Ora and Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell.

"Chris Appleton did this look and I'm so obsessed," Kim wrote. "He cut the wig into a lob and then made it SUPER straight and blunt."
Younger sister Kylie Jenner is renowned for her collection of wigs
It's not the first time that Kim has turned to wigs for a statement look – she wore a striking long platinum blonde style when she stepped out for husband Kanye West's New York Fashion Week show.
It could be younger sister Kylie Jenner who inspired Kim to try the look, as she is notorious for her impressive collection of wigs. The 18-year-old has previously revealed that she decided to try them after realising that constantly changing her locks was wreaking havoc on her mane.
"I've had to find ways to really try and take care of it and give it a rest," she explained in a post on her app. "I discovered this amazing wig guy, Tokyo, and together we create wigs. Wigs are just SO much easier because I change my mind so much and this way I'm not damaging my hair."
