Taylor Lautner has sent his fans into a frenzy thanks to a bold makeover. The 24-year-old heartthrob shocked his Instagram followers on Monday when he revealed that he has dyed his black hair into an eye-catching lavender purple shade.

The Twilight actor gave a sneak peek of his new hair as he lounged around on set at the Paramount Pictures studio, looking the effortlessly cool in a grey T-shirt and khaki jogging bottoms. "Set life can be slowwwwww," he captioned the snap, in which he pulls a mock-boredom expression.

Taylor's new hairdo was not a spur-of-the-moment decision, but is in fact for his upcoming role in the second season of Scream Queens. The actor will be taking on the character of Doctor Cassidy Cascade as he makes his debut in the show opposite stars including Lea Michele, Emma Roberts, John Stamos and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The Cuckoo actor revealed the exciting news a few weeks ago, taking to Instagram where he shared a poster which confirmed he had been cast. "Big news everyone!! Thrilled to be joining @screamqueensFox it's going to be such a blast playing Dr. Cassidy Cascade," he captioned the image. "The season 2 premiere is Tuesday, September 20 at 9pm on Fox!"
Since then, Taylor has been excitedly sharing sneak peeks of his upcoming role, delighting his fans with amusing behind-the-scenes glimpse of the set in between takes, whether he's hanging out with Lea and Jamie or goofing around with John.

The actor has been an active presence on social media ever since he first joined Instagram earlier this year. In his first post, he shared a short video to mark the occasion, with friends Adam Sandler and David Spade on hand to help him celebrate.
He captioned the clip: "Hello Instagram! It only took me until the year 2016 to finally join, sorry I'm so late to the party haha. Huge thank you to my buds @adamsandler and @davidspade for helping me introduce my page."
