Eva Longoria has admitted that she has had a full head of grey hair since she was just 18. The L'Oréal spokesmodel revealed how she dealt with going grey at such a young age in an interview about her hair colour transformations with Us Weekly. "Oh, gosh. I've had a full head of grey hair, since I was, like, 18," Eva said when asked how often she colours her hair.

As a result, the former Desperate Housewives star visits the salon every two weeks. "And then I have some of that peek through. So if I'm travelling or not in town to get my hair coloured, I need an emergency fix," Eva said. "[To cover my roots] I used to use those mascaras, and it would leave your hair sticky. Then I would use my black eyeshadow, and it would come off when the wind blows."

Eva also reflected on the various hair transformations she has undergone throughout her career, saying she is happiest with her current look. "I've been everything," she said. "Blonde, red, black. I went blonde when I was in Desperate Housewives. But it was so high maintenance. And then I went red for a movie, and that was also high maintenance. I love right now because we're going into spring. I like my blonde ends. I love my balayage, it's less ombré, more balayage."

So why do some people go grey at such a young age? While some associate grey hairs with stress, scientists say it is largely determined by genetics. According to Boots WebMD, some autoimmune and genetic conditions are also associated with premature greying, such as alopecia areata and vitiligo. Meanwhile a vitamin B12 deficiency and problems with either the thyroid or pituitary glands may cause premature greying that is reversible if the problem is addressed.
