With Game of Thrones season seven right around the corner, we have the best step-by-step guide you need to style your hair just like Daenerys Targaryen, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen (etc!). After all, the dark may be dark and full of terrors, but that doesn't mean you can't have great hair! Click through our gallery to find out how to get Daenerys Targayen's elaborate signature braids…

To begin:

You will need

  • Finishing Spray
  • Curling Wand
  • Hair pins
  • Clear hair ties
  • Comb

To prepare your hair, curl your hair using the curling wand. Once curled, run your hands through to soften and loosen the curls before spraying with the finishing spray. If you have shorter hair and want to get the look perfect, you could try Great Lengths hair extensions. In the photo, the model is wearing 50 cm extensions for those flowing Khaleesi locks!

Step one

Forget your usual parting and create a centre parting to the crown. Then split the hair into two sections vertically to the ear, then split again horizontally. Braid the top section of the hair using a French waterfall plait, and make sure you leave the waterfall parts of the braid loose. Secure the plait with a band and repeat on the other side. Just think – if Daenerys' handmaiden Missandei can do it, so can you!

Step two

Join your two braids together, then wrap a piece of hair around the bottom to keep it in place. It might look tricky, but after a couple of attempts and maybe the help of a YouTube tutorial, you will get it in now time!

Step three

You then Waterfall braid the lower section, incorporating the waterfall drops from the first braid into the second. Continue braiding until central, at the back of the head, just below the first braid, and at the nape of the neck. Repeat on the other side.

Step four

Join up the two braids, using the hair left over from the braids at the top, then tie it all together, wrapping hair around and securing with a clear band.

Step five

To complete the look, lightly spray hair using the finishing spray and you're finished! Time to conquer cities and fly dragons!
