Forget unicorn roots, bronde, blorange and the hundreds of other hair trends that make their way to us via Instagram - it's time to ask your hairdresser for pastelage. In short, it's the pastel version of balayage - a technique for highlighting hair in a natural, graduated way - and most bloggers and celebrities have been rocking the trend in the form of a pretty pale pink hue.Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner debuted the trend at Coachella earlier this year, dyeing the ends of her blonde locks pastel pink.

The term 'pastelage' was coined by L'Oreal Professionel, who have launched the #ColorfulHair range, which is a semi-permanent in-salon colour.Another star to jump on the wagon was Joan Smalls (pictured above), who looked gorgeous with the ends of her dark glossy locks dyed a soft pink. Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson, meanwhile, also got in on the trend with a slightly more warm pink hue.

Other A-listers to rock the look include Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco and Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards. While you can try this trend at home, we recommend going into a salon - DIY-ing it just isn't a safe bet and you *might* end up with more colour than you bargained for! Simply type 'pastelage' into Pinterest, screenshot your favourite looks and take it to your hairdresser. Happy pastelage-ing!
