Beyonce's colourist Rita Hazan has unveiled her secret weapon to preventing newly-dyed hair from fading. The hairstylist to the stars has used one key method on the Lemonade star's strands to keep the blonde bombshell's tinted locks from going flat. "If you gloss your hair, I can't say enough, your hair will look good for three months without fading at all," Rita tells InStyle magazine. "I think that's the step that people aren't knowledgeable in. You get a gloss in the salon, but you don't necessarily do it at home. It's not a step that everybody is willing to do or know about really."

Hazan, who also boasts ageless model Christie Brinkley as a client, suspects clients are spending way too much money booking appointments at the salon, when they can easily purchase a bottle of gloss to touch up their colour at home. "I think if they do that step, it's life-changing and money-saving because you don't have to spend all that money and your hair isn't getting damaged," she adds. "Your hair is vibrant and looks good all the time."

The colourist offers her own gloss, Rita Hazan Ultimate Shine Gloss, for sale at U.S. cosmetics retailer Sephora with an asking price of $26 (£19) per bottle. The foam formula is offered in five different shades and can be used in the shower, on wet locks after they've been shampooed. Marcy Cline, senior colourist and educator at Bumble and bumble, is a huge fan of Hazan's method to lasting colour, noting, "A gloss can do anything from refreshing your tone and taking your colour darker, to even just sealing the cuticle and adding shine."
