The Duchess of Cambridge looked incredible as she made her way the Queen's annual winter party on Tuesday evening. Duchess Kate wore her late mother-in-law Princess Diana's favourite Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara for the Diplomatic Reception, which was held at Buckingham Palace. Kate showed off her dazzling jewels to the fullest extent, wearing her hair in a chic updo, to draw further attention to her diamond accessories. Her radiant pregnant glow, meanwhile, was perfectly offset with rosy cheeks, and a defined eye. Her usual palette of brown shadows completed her understated make-up look and allowed the attention to fall on her sparkling drop earrings. Her dewy finish was youthful and tied perfectly in with her matching lips and cheeks.

Duchess Kate looked simply stunning, sporting a chic updo

We spoke to talented MUA and founder of Blush + Blow London, Bridget O'Keeffe, who explained to us how to replicate Kate's stunning 'do, which can be achieved with a simple hair doughnut. Bridget explains:

"Section the hair into three vertical parts. Secure the middle section in a low slung pony tail. Using a half doughnut, wrap the middle section around itself to achieve a neat round semi-circle that sits in the nape of your neck. Secure each side with bobby pins. Finally, with each side section, sweep the hair from a central parting around past the ear, just covering it and wrap the ends over the top and secure it underneath the half doughnut"

A hair doughnut, like this one from Claire's, can be used to achieve Duchess Kate's look

This type of look is perfect for a Christmas party, wedding or even a New Year's Eve bash, where you want the hair to be off your face, but still neat, with a glamorous finish.
