She's only 13 but Millie Bobby Brown certainly knows how to work a red carpet. The Stranger Things actress turned heads on Sunday night, arriving at the Golden Globes in a black minidress, adhering to the stars' unofficial black dress code. But all eyes were on her intricate braided up-do, which consisted of a scraped back tight bun and three thick plaits at the back. Here's how to recreate her look, with the help of Bobbi Brown make-up and GHD hair products…
Step 1:
Prep your skin with Bobbi Brown's Instant Full Cover Concealer. Take a few dots underneath the eyes and blend out with a brush. Apply the Skin Longwear Weightless Foundation on your face.
Step 2:
Apply the Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm in Pink Glow across your cheeks, to give you that dewy finished look. Then apply a few strokes of the Artstick in Rich Nude on your cheeks and blend in with your fingers. Use the same product on your lips to achieve that soft matte stain.
Step 3:
Fill out your brows using the Mahogany eyeshadow. Then for your eyes, apply the Longwear Cream Shadow in Sand Dune to your eyelids.
Step 4:
To achieve the winged look, first press the Black Ink Gel Liner underneath the lash line. Apply it in the same way you would mascara, by pressing up into the lash line. To create the winged effect, take the liner out to its furthest extent of the outer corner of the eye. Then use a cotton bud to draw out the lower lash line to create a soft hue of colour.
Step 5:
It's essential to curl your eyelashes, then apply the Smokey Eye Mascara for extra oomph and volume.
Step 6:
Next, work on your hair. If you're good at braiding, you could do this yourself or you may need a friend for an extra pair of hands. Prep by applying GHD's Total Volume Foam all over your hair. Dry your hair with the Air Hairdryer and a paddle brush, to direct the hair away from the face.
Step 7:
Section the hair into four sections; the front and then the three sections to braid at the back. To start the braid, take three subsections in the middle central section. Pass each strand over each other. After every three movements, pick up another section and keep working in this way until your reach the top. This is where you might need a friend to help get that neat, tight finish. Complete all three braids in the same way. Gather the three ponytails at the top and tie them into one.
Step 8:
Working on the front of your bun, apply the Root Lift Spray and brush your hair into the centre of your head. Secure hair with a bungee, then apply Final Fix Hairspray to your two ponytails to help create a shiny, polished look.
Step 9:
Twist the two ponytails then wrap the hair into a bun. Use bobby pins to push into the hair and secure the bun. Lastly, use Final Fix Hairspray and a polishing brush to control any fly-away hairs.
