We're often on the lookout for the most-used beauty products of our favourite celebrities - but lately, there's been a social media shift towards the artists behind the stars' red carpet looks. And there's no one more influential in this field than Jen Atkin, hairdresser to the Kardashian and Jenner ladies and founder of the now-cult haircare line Ouai. The hair guru boasts over two million followers on Instagram, and counts her A-list clients as friends, too, even holidaying with the likes of Chrissy Teigan and John Legend. In 2016, she launched her own haircare brand, Ouai, which now has it's own celebrity following.

Who are Jen Atkin's clients?
Jen was originally best-known for tending to the tresses of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian and their sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner - and still regularly appears in the stars' Instagram and Snapchat posts. She is also loyal hairstylist to Chrissy Teigan, supermodels Kaia Gerber and her mother Cindy Crawford, and sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid.

The hairdresser is constantly travelling with her bevy of superstar clients, who she works with for both red carpet and everyday events. Of the process, in 2016 Jen told The Telegraph how she has a bank of inspiration that she refers to for each client: "I keep a whole arsenal of imagery on my computer and on my iPad, so the girls know I have it all categorised. I have a folder for each girl, with ideas that they’d like, and for events we sit down, look at the clothing and make-up, and we’ll narrow down the looks that would be complementary."

Meet the 'hairfluencer'
Jen's growing social media presence has given rise to a whole new category of social media stars - the 'hairfluencers'. Alongside other big-name celebrity hairstylists, including Kristin Ess (who counts Jenna Dewan Tatum and Lauren Conrad as her clients) and Chris McMillan (Jen's mentor, and hairdresser to Jennifer Aniston), this new breed of hairdressers are becoming celebrities in their own right - with their followers flocking to find out their kit essentials and favourite products.

Ouai, Jen's Hawaii-inspired haircare line, is available in the UK from Cult Beauty and Space NK - and is a favourite of many stylists and bloggers. The brand's cult Wave Spray is hugely popular for creating the effortlessly relaxed style Jen is famous for - while the Soft Hair Spray is equally as well-loved, giving hold without a trace of stickiness. Jen's much-loved Instagram page, which is full of her celebrity clients and their coveted hair looks, is the place to go to find out her behind-the-scenes tips - her Instagram Stories frequently feature how-tos on her star-studded looks.
