The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her third child – a baby boy – at London's St Mary's hospital at 11.01am on Monday morning. Aside from Kate's husband Prince William, there was another person who was one of the newborn's first visitors. The Duchess' personal hairstylist Amanda Cook-Tucker was spotted leaving the Lindo Wing, where the new prince was delivered.

"As with the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the Duchess will want to look her best when she presents her new son or daughter to the world just a few hours after giving birth," says HELLO!'s royal correspondent Emily Nash. "Luckily for her, she has her assistant Natasha Jackson and hairstylist Amanda Cook-Tucker on hand to help. If she follows the same formula as her last two Lindo Wing appearances, they are likely to slip in through a side door to help her prepare for the cameras."

It's hard to imagine putting on a chic outfit and getting your hair done just hours after labour, but that's exactly what Kate did after her previous two births. When Charlotte arrived, the Duchess looked stunning in a Jenny Packham dress with her brunette hair styled in a voluminous wavy look – amazing for a tired mum. After George's birth in 2013, Kate wore her hair in a straighter style.

Amanda is one of Kate's closest friends and regularly joins the family on royal tours abroad. She has been working for the Royals since Princes Harry and William were boys, and has been styling Kate's hair since 2012. Her first job with the Duchess was to accompany her on the Diamond Jubilee tour of South East Asia.

Amanda recently shared a photo ahead of William and Kate's visit to Norway and Sweden. She posted a picture of several different hair products on Instagram and wrote: "Think that's everything! #worktrip #packing." The set-up contained 13 brushes, seven combs, two hairdryers and three curling tongs, and the featured products included Kiehl's Crème with Silk Groom, Charles Worthington mousse and L’Oreal Elnett hairspray.

To keep Kate's famous chestnut locks in tip-top condition, Amanda reportedly gives her a trim at home in Kensington Palace every four to six weeks. Her rate of pay is thought to be £300 a day.

It seems Amanda's connection with the royals doesn't end there; her ex-husband, Neville Tucker, owned a hair salon in Knightsbridge which held the Royal Warrant from 1980 to 1994. It's believed the former couple worked closely with the Queen's former personal hairdresser, Charles Martyn.
