It may be iced latte season as far as our coffee orders go, but as it turns out, our summer choice of beverage is influencing a lot more than our daily caffeine boost - it's now affecting our hair colour choices, too. That's right, iced caramel latte hair colour is here, and it's really, really beautiful. Imagine a mix of warm and cool balayage tones, rather than your usual one-or-the-other look - with dark roots blending into sunshine blondes and ash browns. Yum.

The stylist behind the movement is Los Angeles-based hairdresser Jessica Warburton, who posted  a picture of her creation to her thousands of followers on Instagram. "Here’s a lovely balayage with caramel and iced latte pops. Varying your developer and remembering how permanent colour works can get you stunning results like this," she wrote.

Jessica told Allure: "This client had a full balayage done. She has a natural base level three [one being blackest black and ten palest yellow]. On her ends, I used a higher developer so that we could achieve various levels of lift." To create the warm and cool blonde tones, Jessica toned the hair with two separate formulas.

"This balayage technique is a terrific option for those who want super low-maintenance hair," she added. "It is a technique that is mostly surface painting and allows for a beautiful grow-out phase." Less time (and money) spent in the salon? Yes please.

Social media went crazy for the look too, with many commenting on the picture. "Yesssss!! This is beautiful! I adore the lighter pieces up front!" one follower wrote, while another said: "Perfect for summer!" Like this for yourself? Be sure to book into a salon with a balayage colour specialist who can tailor the look to you and your skin tone - these hand-painted techniques are certainly never the result of a home dye job…
