I LOVE the platinum trend. I think it's so cool (literally) and it's right up my street. However, I'm an absolute wimp and far too scared to attempt the style due to my already-frazzled, lank hair (cue the sound of violins, pls). I've been dyeing my hair for 14 years now and I fear it may just break off at the mere mention of going platinum.

She looked so cool, pairing the platinum with an oversized hair bow, wide-leg culottes and black cat-eye sunglasses (the sunglass style du jour, just FYI). She was showing off a dark root, which is the modern, updated way to go icy blonde, rather than a full-on colour. "A shadow at the root adds a modern touch to platinum blonde," says Nicola Clarke, Color Wow Creative Director and colourist extraordinaire to celebs like Sienna Miller, Cate Blanchett and Gwyneth Paltrow. "It exudes attitude and makes the look much easier to maintain, as touch-ups don't have to be as frequent."
Earlier this year she rocked a pastel pink
As for achieving the silvery shade, Nicola suggests talking through all your options with your stylist. "Let your colourist know a little about your lifestyle – how often you can visit the salon or how you style and wear your hair – to determine what shade would work for you. "If you do make the change, Nicola suggests using a sulphate-free shampoo like Color Wow Colour Security Shampoo to stop colour from fading and becoming brassy.Who thinks I should take the plunge and go peroxide blonde?
