Remember when Dyson launched the Supersonic hairdryer in 2016? Known for its minimal sound, speed, and all-round sleekness, it caused a total stampede when it went on sale to the general public. Yes, it was an expensive purchase, but it didn’t halter the success. Well, now, it looks like there’s going to be a whole new furore - let us introduce you to the next instalment in the Dyson hair range: the AirWrap.

This week, at a launch event in New York City, James Dyson revealed that the brand was dipping its toe in the hair tool category with its latest innovation.
“We have been obsessively manipulating airflow for more than 25 years. It is one of our core expertise. Harnessing the power of Dyson’s digital motor, we have engineered a truly unique styling tool preventing extreme damage when styling. I’m immensely proud of what our engineers have achieved,” James Dyson said.

The Dyson AirWrap basically curls damp hair with AIR - not heat! It doesn’t just curl the hair (though that is an exciting part), it also smooths and waves the hair without any damage. You might be scratching your head in confusion, but the AirWrap uses the Coanda effect and has the same motor as the latest version of the Dyson hair dryer, which by the way, took 15 engineers to design.

Basically, if you’ve ever had a proper blow-dry in a hair salon - or would love to do the Duchess of Cambridge's signature blow-dry at home, this will create a similar look, and doesn’t rely on extreme heat to do it. Plus, your hair needn’t be 100% dry to do it - it can curl your hair when it’s damp. There are five different attachments to use and the kit is sold in two different combinations. There’s the Volume & Shape for fine hair, and the Smooth & Control for thicker locks. For the let's-go-all-out-types, there's the Complete kit which gives you everything (this is priced at £449.99). They all come with the Pre-Styling Dryer which rough dries the hair in seconds and gives you that French girl look we’re all desperate to achieve. Everyone also gets the same luxe travel case that's a sight to behold in itself.
