Matt Damon caused a stir in July last year when he debuted a long ponytail, and now the 45-year-old has once again floored his fans with another bold hairstyle. Arriving in Beijing for the premiere of Jason Bourne with co-star Alicia Vikander, Matt revealed he had longer tresses, swept into a man bun hairstyle.

The actor's makeover came as a surprise, as just days before arriving in Beijing, Matt had been spotted out and about with his hair still in a short, cropped style. Because the dramatic change appears to have happened in such a short amount of time, it has sparked speculation amongst fans that his new 'do could in fact be a wig or extensions for an upcoming movie role.
It wouldn't be the first time that The Martian star has opted for a faux hairstyle for a film. In July 2015, jaws dropped to the floor when Matt stepped out rocking a long and wavy ponytail, sending his fans into a social media frenzy – a Twitter parody account was even set up by fans for the hairdo itself.

However, the Hollywood star has since admitted that the hair was actually a wig for his role in The Great Wall, explaining that he had the style for five months before appearing at a press conference where he was photographed rocking the 'do.

"It was hair extensions," he confessed during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, before explaining that it took "a full day" for the makeover to be completed. "There are 700 hair extensions, it was a full day to put them in. They flew somebody, a wonderful woman, from here [the UK], all the way to Beijing to do it, and we did it on a Sunday, it took us the entire day."
The Good Will Hunting actor then revealed that he struggled with keeping the locks in good condition, having been used to short hairstyles. He quipped: "And then I had to manage that hair – I never knew - I have a whole new appreciation for my wife and daughter. It's very hard to do."
