Amy Willerton prepares for the London Marathon

Amy Willerton and Michael Owen were both gearing up for this weekend’s London Marathon at today’s press call at the historic Tower Bridge.

Former model and I’m A Celebrity star Amy will be running for the Chickenshed Theatre School in London and will be supported by her Dad.

"My parents are both runners. My dad does Iron Man and my mum does marathons", said 21-year-old Amy. "They live such a simple happy life and I think it’s the fact they exercise a lot. It promotes such a healthy mental state", she added.

Amy, who recently sparked rumours of a relationship with The Wanted’s Max George also discussed how she has only joined her parent’s attitude to healthy living in the past year.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Amy said: "Up until a year ago though I didn’t exercise. I ate loads of cake and didn’t have a clue about what I should be doing. "Tweeting from the press day, Amy took a snap of the gorgeous setting.

Also running the marathon with Amy on Sunday will be ex-England footballer Michael Owen, England rugby star Lewis Moody, Olympic rower James Crackness, TV presenter Charlie Webster and soprano singer Laura Wright Prince Harry is the Patron of the London Marathon Charitable Trust and attends every year to stand at the finishing line and hand out the medals to the winner.

His cousin Princess Beatrice became the first ever royal to complete the London Marathon in 2010.

The London Marathon is one of the top six world marathons that form the World Marathon Majors competition with a $1 million prize purse.

This will the 33rd London marathon and it is one of the UK’s largest celebratory sporting events.

Since 1981 the event has raised over £450 million for charity and holds the Guinness world record as the largest annual fund raising event in the world, with the 2009 participants raising over £47.2 million.
