Plus size model Robyn Lawley has spoken out following 'derogatory' comments she received about her stretch marks. The 26-year-old, who welcomed daughter Riply in February, posted a selfie of herself on Instagram showing off what she described as her 'tiger stripes' to promote a positive body image message.

The striking snap sees the model standing in her bathroom, proudly showing off her stretch marks as she poses for a selfie in her mirror. "#tigerstripes #loveyourbodynow," she wrote in the caption for her 141,000 followers, before adding that she had written a full explanation for the snap on her Facebook page.
The Australian beauty, who was the first plus size model to grace the pages of Sports Illustrated, revealed that the 'abusive comments' began after an article was written suggesting she did not want a baby because she wanted to avoid getting stretch marks.
Robyn added that while she is 'familiar with being bullied', the publication of the article particularly caused her 'a huge amount of stress' as she was still seven months pregnant at the time.
"As for my stretch marks I knew they were coming and as they're fading into white (like all my others) I thought I might capture them," she added, describing them as 'tiger stripes' and she had 'earned them'.

"We put an unbelievable amount of ridiculous time consuming pressure on women to care so much about their flaws," she continued. "They forget how truly beautiful they (you) are today."
Robyn also had a message about body image for mothers around the world. She said: "And to anyone who feels bad about your body especially after a baby, you are a warrior, you created a life inside of you, that's no easy feat."
Following her post, Robyn was flooded with supportive comments from fans, thanking her for the positive message. The new mother took to social media once again to thank them for their kind words, sharing an adorable snap of herself with her baby daughter, both beaming at the camera.
