Coleen Rooney has followed in Kim Kardashian's footsteps when it comes to her post-pregnancy health routine. The 29-year-old has revealed she had her placenta freeze-dried into pills after giving birth to her and husband Wayne Rooney's third child on Sunday, so that she can reap the health benefits and consume them daily.

Coleen Rooney has revealed she's taking placenta pills

The British beauty shared her plans with her 1.24 million Twitter followers, posting a photo of the capsules on the social media website. "Looking forward to starting my capsules @placentaplus1 …. Thank you xx," she wrote alongside the snap.

Coleen and Wayne welcomed an adorable baby boy they named Kit – continuing the tradition of giving their children a name beginning with the letter K, with their older boys named Kai and Klay.

It comes as no surprise that Coleen has chosen to try placenta pills – they have become an increasingly popular trend among new mums.

Many believe that consuming the placenta after birth has many health benefits, not only because it’s packed with nutrients such as protein and fats, but also because it can reportedly encourage breast milk and lower hormones.

Kim Kardashian revealed she herself was taking the pills in December in a bid to prevent postpartum depression, after she and Kanye West welcomed baby boy Saint.

Kim Kardashian also took placenta pills, in a bid to prevent postpartum depression

Writing on her official website, the Keeping up with the Kardashians star explained: "So, I'm really not this holistic person or someone who would have ever considered eating my placenta. And when I say 'eat my placenta,' I mean having it freeze-dried and made into a pill form – not actually fry it like a steak and eat it (which some people do, BTW)."

"I heard so many stories when I was pregnant with North of moms who never ate their placenta with their first baby and then had postpartum depression," she continued. "But then when they took the pills with their second baby, they did not suffer from depression! So I thought, why not try it? What do I have to lose?"
