Khloé Kardashian reveals how she got her confidence back after being body shamed

Khloé Kardashian has spoken candidly about how she worked to get her confidence back after being body shamed by the media. The 31-year-old revealed that she worked to turn negative comments "into a positive", and found exercise was a "stress reliever" that helped her feel good about herself.

"I have changed my life – I used to just accept the way people defined me," she admitted during a panel discussion as part of the Live Chin Up Movement in New York on Thursday. "When people called me the fat sister, I'd say, 'Yeah I'm big boned'. Whatever we do to laugh at things instead of [letting] them hurt you."

However, the Keeping up with the Kardashians star revealed she decided to try and focus on her own happiness rather than listening to others. "And then I slowly but surely took something really bad in my life or stressful time which was my divorce, and I turned it into a positive."

Khloé then explained that it was when she began working out at the gym that she found an "emotional release" – and her interest in the world of fitness grew.

"I started using the gym as my stress reliever, and I did not think that I could ever be fit," she confessed. "I really was just content with who I was and I never felt uncomfortable – I just always thought that was who I was.

"And then I started working out and as a byproduct of me finding an emotional release, I started losing weight. And I was like, 'Ok I'm gonna now take this a little more seriously, I'm going to go to the gym more with a trainer, and I'm going to learn more about healthy eating tips, and I started making it a lifestyle."

Nowadays, she's become somewhat of a fitness guru to her legions of fans, sharing her workout and diet tips on her eponymous app and website. Khloé recently caused a stir in the world of healthy eating when she shared the lifestyle change she made that resulted in her losing 11 pounds.

"I'm obsessed with cheese and milk, but eliminating them from my diet made the biggest difference," she told New Beauty. "In a month and a half, I lost 11 pounds just from not eating dairy, without doing anything else different, and that totally blew my mind."
