Zac Efron has been seriously upping his fitness game in recent weeks ahead of working on Baywatch with Dwayne Johnson – and his hard work has paid off. The 28-year-old has been flooring fans with his incredibly muscular physique on set as the filming of the highly-anticipated comedy.

The High School Musical star has given his 12.1 million Instagram followers a glimpse into his gruelling routine, which includes tough exercises such as tyre flipping. In one photo's caption, Zac confessed he had undergone "months and months of training for this moment" as he kicked off filming.
The actor also took to Twitter to share his strict healthy diet, admitting he had undergone a sugar and carbohydrate detox. "9 days of absolutely zero carbs & sugar. Only organic grass fed/free range protein and organic leafy greens," he wrote, before adding that "this lead to" a cheat day with an impressive menu. "Devoured a steak, 4 side potatoes/veggies, macncheese, 3 desserts, bread/butter, brick o cheese & caviar," he wrote.
Amidst his new fitness regime, Zac confessed he had been receiving an incredible amount of support and encouragement from his co-star Dwayne – who is notorious for his bodybuilding and alter ego wrestler The Rock.

"Needless to say I lost this one - come at me on the 50 yard dash and we'll see what happens, Sasquatch."
Dwayne also shared a photo of the pair's competition on his own Instagram account, joking that they were still going despite the fact that "production for the day has ended, all the extras are going home and the sun's going down".
The 43-year-old took the opportunity to confess that he was in awe of the "hard work" Zac had been putting into his exercise and diet. "On a side discipline note juuuuuust wait til you see the insane shape my boy Efron got in for our movie," he wrote in the caption. "Proud of the hard work he put in. That's the way you make a character "Iconic"."
