Chris Hemsworth reveals his secret for staying fit and strong

July 8, 2016

Chris Hemsworth never fails to set pulses racing with his impressive muscular physique and now the 32-year-old actor has shared his secret for staying in shape. The Thor star revealed that he stays strong by following tips from Dr. Eric Goodman's True to Form book and incorporating them into his fitness routine.

"If you've ever suffered from back pain or want a stronger healthier body then check this book out," he wrote to his 5.2 million Instagram followers, alongside a snap of the book cover and two photos of himself working out in the sunshine. "I incorporate it into my everyday workouts and daily movements and I've never felt stronger, it's incredible. (Also if you do it next to a helicopter in the beautiful Australian outback it looks and feels even better)."

The father-of-three went on to explain that he believes maintaining a good posture is the "key to a healthier body".

Chris revealed his secret for staying in shape

"Hunching all day at a keyboard, tilting our heads forward over our phones, commuting long hours, slouching on the couch – our sedentary lifestyle has led to an epidemic of chronic pain," he wrote. "The consequences are poor postures that throw our bodies out of balance, causing the unnecessary stress and strain that compromise out joints, restrict organ function, and weaken our muscles."

He added: "How we live in our bodies is fundamental to our overall wellness. The good news is that we all hold the key to a healthier body."

With Chris' hectic work schedule calling for him to regularly train and work out, he explained what had drawn him to Eric's methods.

"Dr. Eric Goodman has spent years studying human physiology and movement, and has helped people of all ages and occupations heal and correct lifelong debilitating pain," he wrote. "Called Foundation Training, his practical program trains the posterior chain muscles—shoulders, back, butt, and legs—shifting the burden of support to where it belongs: the large muscle groups.#foundationtraining #strength #fitness #backpainrelief @foundationtraining."

He previously shocked fans with his dramatic weight loss for In the Heart of the Sea

It's not the first time that Chris has opened up about his fitness routine. After shocking fans with his dramatic weight loss for In the Heart of the Sea, the actor explained that he would prefer to avoid such drastic measures for a film role in the future.

"I don't think I'd lose it again, no, because it's just too exhausting," he told Wonderwall. "There are smarter ways of doing it now, I think, camera trickery and so on."

He added: "I don't mind going up to Thor weight and then going back down to my normal body weight. It's easier to put it on than it is to take it off. It gets harder each time once you put on that mass. Your body's like, 'Nah, it's staying here'."
