The Rio Olympic Games have been a huge success so far this year with one small exception; the bright green water in some of the swimming pools. While officials at the event have determined that the water is perfectly safe, athletes have complained about the levels of chlorine in the pool, and according to champion diver Tom Daley the pool has now temporarily closed.
The 22-year-old, who recently won bronze with diving partner Daniel Goodfellow for the Men's synchronized 10m platform, joked about the state of the pool in which they had recently competed, tweeting: "Diving pool is closed this morning. Hopefully that means we haven't been diving in anything too bad the last couple of days!" The star accompanied the message with several 'ill' emojis.

Fans have been quick to join in on the joke, with one replying to Tom's tweet: "what's the worst it could be?" accompanied by a photo of a gunge pool from a children's TV show, while another wrote: "Hopefully they're just getting rid of Shrek so the pool can be blue again!"
The captain of the US water polo team, Tony Azevedo, claimed he struggled with the level of chlorine in the water while competing on Wednesday, saying: "This is the Olympic Games and they are putting so much chlorine in the water that people can't see. You can't have that."
Tom won a bronze medal with his diving partner, Daniel Goodfellow
Rio Olympic Games official Twitter account has previously addressed the concerns about the pool's unusual colour, saying: "The water quality at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre was tested and there were no risks for the athletes. We are investigating the cause."
