Kate Hudson is not only dedicated to helping women live an active lifestyle, but she also wants us to look and feel great while doing so with her Fabletics fitness line. Knowing all too well how difficult it can be to find the time and the motivation to exercise, the actress has shared the secrets to her healthy routine. Take note!

How do you keep motivated?

I really like to mix it up—variety keeps me present, motivated and stops me from falling into a fitness rut. I'm definitely a nature girl, so when I can get outside and exercise that makes me 100% more motivated. I also think it's super important to put positive intentions out there because half the battle is getting in the zone to workout.

How do you stay looking so great, what are your diet secrets?

I don't get too hung up on the specifics of diet; I think it's important to feed your soul. Think about what you eat and, most importantly, how it makes you feel. Always listen to your body and don't beat yourself up if you enjoy a little indulgence. Like everyone else, I have good days and bad days, I just try to stay in tune with what makes my body feel the best. But always remember food is 80% the focus when we want to drop some weight and begin to get healthier. We must eat healthy to make real strides!

What advice can you give people starting a new fitness regime in the New Year?

Find an activity you love, whether it's a yoga session, dance class or just going for long walks in nature. There's no point in a gym subscription if you don't enjoy what you're doing. If you love the outdoors, then run, hike or cycle. If being part of a team motivates you, then find one to join. Enjoying what you do is half the battle!

Also (and this is so important) be kind to yourself. It's always difficult to make a change and there will be days when you don't feel so great and days when you don’t accomplish what you wanted to—that's OK. If you're trying (and trying to find activities you truly enjoy) then you're already succeeding.

How do you find the time to keep fit around your busy schedule?

I just try to be smart when it comes to fitting fitness into my day. I'm always running around after my boys, so I count that as part of my workout. If I can't get in a full workout, I just try to be as active as I can in other ways throughout the day. Also DVD workouts and some online streaming workouts are really good and work! Don't underestimate the use of a great app or video workout.

How do you keep your glow and your skin looking great?

I stay hydrated! It's so important to drink lots of water, even in the winter months. It's amazing how many times we confuse our body's cues too; often we're actually thirsty, not hungry.

I also think it's worth investing in the beauty products that work for you; you definitely don't need a cabinet full of expensive products to look great. Learn which products suit your skin and be consistent in using them.
