A fitness blogger has shared a before and after photo from her body transformation to prove to women that they shouldn't worry too much about their weight. Kelsey Wells, who writes My Sweat Life blog, posted a side-by-side comparison of her body in a bikini on Instagram on Tuesday evening, telling her followers to "screw the scale".

STORY: The fitness routines loved by Victoria Beckham, Gigi Hadid and more

The mother-of-one explained that while her physique looks noticeably different in the after photo, with a lean and toned physique, she is actually the same weight and clothes size in both photos. Kelsey implored women to measure their progress by "health and happiness" rather than seeing the numbers drop on the scale in a lengthy caption to her "Transformation Tuesday" post.

Kelsey Wells said she is a similar weight in these before and after photos

Explaining that the "before" photo was taken a few months after she welcomed her son, Kelsey wrote: "I AM THE SAME PANT SIZE IN BOTH PHOTS, and am almost the same weight, yet my body composition has completely changed. EVEN IF IT HADN'T, one of my biggest regrets is beating up my post partum body and not seeing the beauty in myself at that stage."

STORY: This woman used a pair of tights to share an empowering message about body image

Now she wants to use her own experiences to help other women learn to love their bodies too. "Your body is beautiful exactly how it is. Live a healthy life because you deserve it, not just because you may want to change," she wrote. "Measure your progress by health, and HAPPINESS, and love yourself NOW, and every step of the way."

The fitness blogger has qualified as a personal trainer

The US-based blogger has attracted over 700,000 fans on Instagram alone thanks to her body positive posts and honest accounts of her own fitness journey. She has previously explained how she developed a love of fitness after following Kayla Itsines' Bikini Body Guide workouts, and has subsequently qualified as a personal trainer. Kelsey is among a number of women who have used social media to share empowering messages about body image, with some even sharing fake transformation photos to show why people shouldn't compare their own bodies and progress to others.
