Two-time Oscar winner Emma Thompson has spoken out about the number of young actors and actresses in Hollywood who are depriving themselves of food to maintain a thin physique. In a recent interview on Norweigan-Swedish talk show Skavlan, Emma claimed that there are many "kids, girls and boys now and actresses who are very thin, who are into their 30s [who] simply don't eat."
Emma also recalled the time she witnessed producers asking an unnamed actress to lose weight on the set of the film Brideshead Revisited. "She was absolutely exquisite and I said to them, 'If you speak to her about this again on any level, I will leave this picture. You are never to do that.'" Even though Emma has over 30 years of acting experience under her belt, the British star says she still faces criticism for her looks. But being the feisty individual that she is, Emma always quips back with the answer: "sorry do you want me to be an actress or a model?"
STARS WHO HAVE SHAMED THIER BODY SHAMERS
The Love Actually star isn’t the first celebrity to address the enormous amount of pressure women face in Hollywood when it comes to losing weight. Ashley Graham, Demi Lovato, Chrissy Teigen and more have all opened up about the unattainable ‘perfect’ body that is expected of them.
Following her Super Bowl performance in February, Lady Gaga was targeted by trolls who criticised her physique. She was quick to fire back at the unkind remarks, writing an inspiring post on social media, which read: "I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I'm proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too. No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don't need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That's the stuff of champions. Thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga."
