Anne Hathaway has got one step ahead of body shamers by explaining the reason for her recent weight gain. The Devil Wears Prada actress has been gaining weight via intense bodybuilding workouts, and admitted she was preparing for people to comment on her changing figure over the coming weeks.
Sharing a time-lapse video of her gym routine, which saw her training with resistance bands and weights, Anne told her 10.4 million followers: "I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well. To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it's not me, it's you. Peace xx." She added: "PS – I wanted to set this to Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls' but copyright said no. Continued Peace."

Anne's post was praised by her fans, who complimented her on her changing physique: "Whatever your weight you're still gorgeous," one person commented, while another wrote: "Isn't it a terrible world where someone has to clarify to strangers (or anyone) why their body is changing?"

The 35-year-old didn't reveal what role she is training for, but she has a number of projects in the pipeline including a role in thriller The Lifeboat, in which she plays a young woman on trial for murder, and Live Fast Die Hot, where she plays an eccentric New Yorker whose life changes dramatically when she becomes a mother.

Anne will next be seen on screen in Ocean's Eight, in which she stars alongside a cast of leading ladies including Cate Blanchett, Dakota Fanning, Sandra Bullock, Olivia Munn, Helena Bonham Carter and Rihanna. The film will follow Debbie Ocean, played by Oscar winner Sandra, as she tries to assemble the perfect crew anchored by Cate's character Lou. The Mindy Project star will take on the role of a jewellery expert, while Rihanna plays a mysterious hacker.
