We've had the Fitbit, now it's the turn of the Ava Bracelet. Never heard of it? Well it's tipped to be the next big thing in health – a fertility tracker that precisely monitors a woman's menstrual cycle to determine ovulation dates. The bracelet detects nine physiological parameters, such as your skin temperature, stress levels and breathing rate to determine when you are most fertile. Similar to the Fitbit, you wear it in your sleep then charge it the next morning. Next step is to connect to the corresponding Ava app on your phone to collect the data. Sounds amazing. It's got the celeb seal of approval too, with the likes of Khloe Kardashian and Tori Spelling amongst its fans.

So why is everyone going crazy for the gadget? Well, most other fertility trackers use just one parameter so can only pinpoint ovulation to one or two days, whereas the Ava bracelet detects the fertile period from start to finish – on average 5.3 days per cycle with 89% accuracy. The Ava tracker costs £249 from avawomen.com.

The company behind the bracelet, Ava Women, has just released results from their latest survey, which reveals over half of UK women don't talk to friends and family about trying for a baby. A third of women avoid talking to friends about conception and two thirds of women are unaware how long their fertile window is within their cycle. The research found that many women keep trying for a baby to themselves due to fears of being shunned at work or by friends socially. It seems many of us are turning to technology for help.

NHS GP Dr Sara Kayat says: “Trying for a baby can be a daunting and frustrating experience for women but having a true reading of your cycle can help women understand their menstrual cycle accurately and know exactly when they are ovulating through the nine different physiological parameters that the Ava Bracelet measures."
