The cast of Strictly Come Dancing 2022 is likely limbering up ahead of the first show this weekend, and one star who is unexpectedly flexible is Countryfile presenter Helen Skelton.

When asked about her party trick, Helen revealed: "It was the splits for a long time," before going on to explain an injury had left her unable to bend into the impressive position. "I tore my hamstring and I've never been able to do it since!"

Despite no longer being able to drop into the splits, her long-term flexibility is likely to benefit the 39-year-old in the competition.

Helen went on to share that she has minimal dance experience, explaining: "When I was a kid I tap-danced, but that's it! Slow, calm, considered and measured dancing is not me."
The presenter is known for being ultra-fit, dabbling in everything from hiking to cold water swimming, and she's a fan of golf too.

"I know Fleur and love her, we have golf lessons together," Helen explained, with Fleur saying the two started lessons together last year.

Helen's existing fitness levels are likely to help her in the show, with the star explaining that the dancing isn't what concerns her most about the show, rather it's the physical nature of the show that worries her.

"I'm not that touchy-feely, so I think the physical closeness I’ll need to have with my partner will take a bit of getting used to!" she admitted.
