Prince Harry delighted royal watchers this week when he confirmed he plans to attend his father King Charles’ coronation on 6 May.
His wife, Meghan Markle, will remain in California with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and while it’s natural for him to want to return to his family as quickly as possible - especially given that Archie’s fourth birthday falls on the same day as King Charles' celebration - there could be another reason Harry is keen to rush back to the US.
Since moving to California, Harry has taken up polo at a professional level, playing on the Los Padres team in Santa Barbara, and the team has a full season of matches currently, including games on May 5 and 7, either side of the coronation ceremony.
While it’s unclear if Harry will be playing in these matches, they do provide another reason for the 38-year-old to return home swiftly.
The royal has dedicated a great deal of time to the sport in recent years, with British player Millie Hine, who knows members of Prince Harry's Los Padres team, telling the Daily Mail that Harry has been training four times a week and going to the gym most days to keep up with the other pro players.
Where will Meghan Markle be during the coronation?
As the Duchess of Sussex won't be attending the coronation in the UK, it is logical that she will remain at home with her two children, celebrating her son's fourth birthday.
Harry is expected to stay at his former Windsor residence, Frogmore Cottage, while he’s in the country.
