All eyes were on Oscar winner Sandra Bullock at last week’s Golden Globes ceremony, as she dazzled on the red carpet with a flattering new fringe and sexy, smouldering eyes. And thanks to our celebrity makeup artist Alice Theolbald, you too can turn heads by recreating this bold, beautiful look.“Ask your hairdresser for a heavy, brushed-forward fringe to accentuate your features,” advises Alice. “If the fringe stops at a point that isn’t your most flattering it will draw attention to it so it’s very important to make sure it ends at a good place for your features. "Sandra’s is very shaped so any lines or crows' feet are covered – it makes her so current and youthful looking. It’s an edgy cut with a dark harsh colour – but this look shows that if you get it right and emphasise your best features it’s a really good way of bringing a modern look to a more mature face.”

Alice recommends spritzing the fringe with Paul Mitchell Freeze & Shine Super Spray to avoid the strands of hair separating when you move. “It’ll give a glossy finish and hold it in place,” she says.“To enhance the look further, Sandra’s opted for maximum impact by creating a sexy, smoky eye. Use Giorgio Armani’s Maestro eye shadow quad – a palette of eyeshadows in neutral tones - and mix together the two darkest colours near the lash line. Blend upwards, getting lighter and lighter as you approach the brow bone.“Next, using MAC Fluidline Eye Liner Gel in Blacktrack, apply from the inner corner of the lid and sweep outwards to create a defined, strong line. Then line the bottom, inner rim of your lower lid with a black, kohl liner, before using a dark bronze liner – I love the Dior Crayon Eyeliner In Elegant Taupe. Blend it between the bottom lashes and create a softer line by smudging it in with a cotton tip." No look is complete without mascara. Brush it through your lashes and apply a second coat before the first has dried. “This gives maximum impact and leaves less clumps," says Alice. The impact of this look comes from the eyes, so the rest of the face is kept really neutral. “To create the bare lips, tone them down in colour using a shade that’s more the colour of your skin tone than your lips. Line them with Illamasqua Medium Pencil in Vow, before applying Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Bare Beige.“Again, this is a pared down look – so use a very, very pale blusher. I love Fleur Power by MAC.”Et voila! "This look is fabulous – a real lesson in emphasising your best features,” she adds.To contact our celeb makeup artist Alice about bridal and events hair and makeup or personal makeup lessons visit https://www.wonderlandhairandmake-up.co.uk/index.html
