Get the look: Christina Hendricks

Are you a porcelain beauty like the Mad Men star? Here's how to recreate her look!

February 4, 2011

If there was one person who stood out from the crowd on the SAG Awards red carpet last week it was Mad Men star Christina Hendricks. The flame-haired beauty's makeup perfectly complemented her porcelain complexion – and now, makeup artist to the stars Alice Theobald is on hand to help you recreate this red carpet-ready look...

"For this week's how-to guide I've picked some brands like Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts' Dainty Doll, that are especially for paler complexions like Christina's," says Alice.

"If you have a similar colouring to Christina, always make sure you have a high SPF base underneath your foundation to protect your skin at all times," she advises. "MAC do a good one - Prep + Prime Face protect SPF 50. Once that's on, apply Chanel Pro Lumière – a fantastic even-toning semi-matte foundation."

It's tricky for girls with paler skin to stop their makeup looking like a mask. To prevent the foundation from looking flat, Alice recommends highlighting the cheekbones with High Beam by Benefit. "Next up, to stop any shine, dust a loose powder across the face," she suggests.

"Now let's concentrate on the eyebrows. Define them very lightly using feathery strokes – they're not a main feature of this look so don't go to heavily, particularly with a fair complexion where everything stands out ten times more than it would on darker skin." Alice loves the Benefit Brows a-go-go Brow & Eye Shaping Kit.

"The main emphasis of this look is on the eyes," explains Alice. "After applying your eyeshadow, get a high definition look around the lashline by using Blackout- a single black shimmery eye colour by Dior

"Also, Christina has highlighted the inner corners of her eyes to really make them pop. Select the lightest silvery-white colour from the Chanel Smoky Eye Quad palette and using a sponge applicator, apply to the corners of your eye."

Use a kohl liner on the bottom inner lids, and line along the top lash line using a gel or liquid liner to help you achieve the flick effect. Then, finish the eyes off with lashings of black mascara.

"For a natural blusher look I love My Girl from the Dainty Doll range," says alice. "Then use a very nude lip liner – try Rosy Beige by YSL - and use Dainty Doll lipstick In His Kiss to fill in the lips. Apply lip gloss to add a gentle sheen to the lips, too."
