Infused with gold and pearlescent pinks, American beauty guru Bobbi Brown made sure that her debut with L'Wren Scott at London Fashion Week would be one to remember.“Dreaming of decadence. Gustav Klimt during the Golden Period using Adele Bauer acting as the muse,” read the show notes for the Allegory of Love Autumn/Winter 2013 collection.Usually known for creating natural tonal palettes for flawless everyday looks, Bobbi showed in London that she could just as easily make the opulent effortless to achieve.
Like L'Wren Scott, the 55-year-old CEO admitted to being inspired by art, “I collect old portraits- I love a painterly finish to the skin” she explained. Certainly no one does 'no makeup' skin like Bobbi Brown, and to create the brushed out look of any opulent portrait, she of course reached for her BB Cream which gives the "most incredible real skin finish". Starting from the centre of the face and blending outwards, the base was then "complemented with naturally flushed cheeks and lips to balance the modern opulent look" .
Making sure that the models' remained "glowing" throughout the show, their skin was finished off with a light a dusting of Retouching Powder for a radiant glow.
L'Wren's breathtaking collection that evening showcased an array of majestic golden fabrics and intricate embroidery, and Bobbi drew up the colours from this palette and replicated them in her own work:
"For the eye makeup, there is a painterly wash of gold on the eyes creating a new alternative to the smokey eye - the gilded eye - framed by a defined brow".The bespoke blend of eyeshadows for that champagne gold sparkle was created with mix of three complementing shades from Bobbis Old Hollywood collection. The trick is to layer in thin brush strokes, just as you would when painting. "It's fantastic to be at London Fashion Week for the first time, and so great to work with L'Wren," Bobbi told a source after the show, adding that "Creating the look has been a very collaborative process, I always prefer to work with designers in that way. The only thing I demand from a designer is that the girls look gorgeous."
