They've had female bodybuilders, Wonder Woman and even a cartoon cat at the forefront of their campaigns. And now MAC cosmetics have announced that they will soon be making sweet make-up music with international singing sensation, Rihanna.Having recently released a fashion line with River Island, Rihanna had only just got over the excitement of her first fashion week in London before announcing the new beauty deal on her birthday.Tweeting excitedly on Wednesday to her fans, the Bahamas born beauty announced "That's right baby, I'm a #MACgal now!" alongside a snapshot of newly packaged cosmetics that she had designed herself. Full of eyeshadows and bold lip products, MAC fans are in for a treat.
Joining the ranks of MAC's other female artists including Lady Gaga and Niki Minaj, the 25 year old Diamonds singer fits the brand's brief for bold and beautiful women. In an interview with Women's Wear Daily, Rihanna described that her new beauty deal with New York based franchaise was "a no brainer," disclosing that that MAC products are already her stage make-up essential."When you think of make-up, the brand that pops into your mind – for something legit – is MAC," Rihanna explained. "Whatever colour you want, it's like 'Let's go to MAC.' I've been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. "The fun-loving star also announced that her relationship with the American company provided the perfect mixture of work and creativity – that it was in the beauty lab where she "really got to play". "There's so much to choose from, and you can mix different textures with different colours and different greens in different eye shadows", said the singer. "I learned so much about the detail of make-up and what makes things look different. What makes it apply different is really important. Every little detail is important."
More than just a face to front the brand, MAC say Rihanna's involvement "is a true, organic collaboration based on mutual admiration and respect". And from what we've seen so far, it's only be a matter of time before the singer's showstopping wonder products fly off the shelves.Of course the singer who has released a track called Red Lipstick will debut her cosmetic line with a ruby red lipstick named RiRi Woo. Based MAC's iconic existing lipstick Ruby Woo which is already a staple in Rihanna's make-up bag, the new product is designed to suit every girl: "I tried it on all my friends to make sure it worked on all of our skin tones.” Called the RiRi (Hearts) MAC line, the first of four collections is set to launch in May around about the same time as her Diamonds Tour, where MAC will be previewing the first collection at a pop-up shop.
