The summer weather means open-toed sandals and flip-flops, but sometimes a messy pedicure can leave you dashing to the salon rather than making the most of the sunshine. Celebrity nail artist Jenny Longworth reveals her step-by-step guide to creating the perfect pedicure at home to keep your feet looking their best this season…
Jenny reveals her top tips for a perfect pedicure
The night before:
1. Cut your nails down with clippers rather than scissors as this will give you a cleaner finish.
2. Use a medium to hard grit file to shape your nails. When you have the right shape, file downwards at a 45-degree angle to the free edge of the nail. This will seal in the layers at the edges and prevent any flaking.
3. Run a hot bath and soak your feet. Take them out for five minutes and gently push back the cuticles, then soak your feet some more.
4.Use a body scrub to massage into any dry skin on the heels.
5.Dry off your feet and while the skin is still supple, use Revlon's Pedi-Expert to remove dead skin. Start with the thickest area and slide the Pedi-Expert back and forth in lengthway motions.
6. Moisturise and put on a pair of socks before bedtime to ensure your feet soak up all the goodness.

Applying the polish:
1. A good buff of the nail will make all the difference in the look and wear of your nail polish – try Revlon's Crazy Shine Buffer for healthy-looking nails.
2. Apply a base coat to protect your nails.
3. Choose your shade! For a gel-like effect, apply two coats of your favourite Revlon Gel Envy Nail Enamel.
4. Finish off with a topcoat and a slick of quick-dry polish to seal the colour and complete your perfect manicure!
