How to do the Kylie Jenner lip challenge

Kylie is renowned for her plump, full lips, and earlier this year her legions of fans began to take drastic measures to try and recreate the look – however their dangerous methods such as using vacuums for suction left many bruised and some even scarred, and Kylie herself urged fans to embrace their own features or use make-up instead.

What are lip fillers?

Lip fillers are design to create a plump pout, often made from substances similar to hyaluronic acid. Also known as 'derma fillers', these are injected into the lips to create augmentation and therefore a fuller finish. There are temporary options – which Kylie Jenner famously used – or permanent fillers.

How to remove gel nail polish

First, take a coarse nail file and gently buff the top of your nails until the colour is left matte. Next, soak some cotton balls in acetone and place on your nail – wrap tin foil around your fingertip to keep it in place. Repeat on all your nails and leave for about 10-15 minutes. When you remove the foil, push the cotton ball down to remove any leftover gel. When you're finished, apply a cuticle oil on your nail beds and around the nail to add rehydrate the area after the acetone.

How to remove acrylic nails at home

Never force or pry acrylic nails off – this can damage your natural nail or cause an infection. Begin by gently buffering the acrylic nails to remove the shine. Apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly around the skin touching the nail bed – this will protect your skin for the next steps. Fill a small glass bowl with acetone nail polish, and dip your nails into the bowl until the glue that binds the acrylic nails starts to come off – this can take up to 15-20 minutes. Remove your hands and gently try to remove the acrylic nails – if you have any difficulty then dip them back into the bowl for a few more minutes. Once you have removed the nails, thoroughly wash your hands and then apply cuticle oil to moisturise – if there's any leftover glue, gently buff this away.

How to use beard balm

Beard balm is a great way to get a smooth, groomed look like David Beckham. Rub the balm in between your fingers to warm it, then gently massage into your beard. Use a comb to evenly distribute the product – a brush will also work but a comb gives you more control, and is often much easier to clean afterwards.

How to do a French braid

A gorgeous braid like Blake Lively can seem daunting to create but actually only takes a few simple steps. This look works best on smooth hair so use a paddle brush to remove any knots. Separate a two inch section of hair from your hairline towards the crown. Divide it into three sections and begin braiding. Keep hair tight by pulling hair sections away from each other. Start thickening each section by adding the remaining tresses you left loose. Keep plaiting until all of your hair is braided and secure with an elastic.

How to pop a deep zit

You should avoid popping spots as this can damage skin and cause scarring. Instead, try to keep up a regular skincare routine to keep blemishes at bay. Make sure to cleanse, tone and moisturise daily, and once a week gently exfoliate to rid the skin of any build-up of dirt and bacteria.

How to get glowing skin

Keep your skincare routine simple – cleanse, tone and moisturise daily and exfoliate once a week. Make sure to stay hydrated as this gives your skin a healthy boost – and make sure to remove make-up every night before going to sleep. If you want to enhance your radiant complexion, try strobing.

How to put braids in a bun

Jennifer Lopez has often turned heads on the red carpet with a braided bun – and the glamorous look is surprisingly easy to create. Brush your hair and tie into a ponytail – high or low depending on where you want the bun. Plait the ponytail to the end, and then twist the braid around the hair tie until all the hair is around it, creating a bun effect. Secure with a hair elastic or grips.

How to make your hair not staticy

Suffering from constant static flyaways? There are a few simple tricks you can use to tame your tresses. For example, dryer sheers can really help – rub on brushes and combs or even along your hair to eliminate frizz or static. Make sure to use an ionic hairdryer on your locks as this neutralises the electric charge that creates static. When styling, use metal or rubber combs, and stick to hairbrushes with natural bristles.
