Lady Gaga stole the show at the Golden Globes, dazzling in a floor-length Versace gown, her hair styled into Marilyn Monroe-inspired curls. However, there was one noticeable change to the star's usual look – her tattoos were nowhere to be seen.

The Bad Romance hitmaker has a series of inkings on her shoulders and elbows, but chose to cover them with make-up for the awards ceremony, where she picked up the trophy for best actress in a miniseries following her performance in American Horror Story: Hotel.
The change was so subtle it went unnoticed on the night, but eagle-eyed fans quickly picked up on her missing body art when images of the singer appeared on social media in the following days.
It soon transpired that, to help her create smooth and flawless coverage, Lady Gaga had turned to celebrity make-up artist Mike Mekash, who works on American Horror Story and also created the make-up looks for Mad Max: Fury Road.
"The covers I did looked great on the red carpet and on stage when she WON!" Mike wrote in a comment posted on Facebook. "And for 99% of the press photos."

Lady Gaga has not yet revealed why she chose to hid the artwork, but did take to Instagram to share a touching message to fiancé Taylor Kinney and her fans for their ongoing support.
"I am so grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press," she wrote in the caption to her 13.8 million followers. "Thank you Taylor for being right there for me the whole way through. Monsters, never lose hope in yourself. This is for my brilliant manager @wanaynay Staying in the fight is the true test. Never give up on your dreams."
Lady Gaga also caused a stir at the Golden Globes after being involved in what appeared to be an awkward interaction with Leonardo DiCaprio. In a short clip that quickly went viral, Lady Gaga walked towards the stage to collect her award and brushed past Leonardo – who was caught pulling what seemed to be a startled expression.
