Demi Lovato regularly champions positive body image messages for women, but the now-confident star revealed she regrets taking beauty advice for a role at the start of her career. The former Sonny with a Chance star revealed she had her teeth "fixed" after being asked to for a role.
Demi Lovato revealed she had her teeth 'fixed' for her role in Camp Rock
"I signed with Disney Channel when I got Camp Rock, and I had a gap between my two front teeth," she told Allure, for whom she is the cover star of the February issue. "They were like, 'Would you be willing to fix it?' I wish today that I hadn't, because my gap was really cute."
Nowadays, the Give Your Heart a Break hitmaker admits she feels more confident than ever.
"I've never felt as confident in my skin as I do today," she said. "A year ago, on tour, almost every inch of my body was covered by clothing. Once I started feeling better about myself, I felt better about showing more skin."
She added: "I mean business now."
Demi admitted she's a lot more confident nowadays
Demi, who has released her first make-up line as the face of New York Color, has previously opened up about embracing her own body, and confessed that when it comes to beauty she favours a natural look rather than "pounds of make-up".
"What makes me sad is to see so many girls on Instagram with their faces painted, literally, and the contouring tutorials and the lip tutorials," she told Refinery29. "I had a moment when I thought, 'Are my lips not big enough?' And, no, I have great lips. While it's great to learn, some of these tutorials make you think you have to put pounds of make-up on and that's not the case."
"I love to empower girls to go make-up free," she later continued. "Or to wear a very fresh look and save the dramatic looks for night and the weekend."
