Kardashian sisters 'being sued' in $180million lawsuit over beauty line

March 23, 2016

Kourtney, Khloé and Kim Kardashian are reportedly being sued in a $180million lawsuit regarding their Kardashian Beauty line. Hillair Capital Management, the investment firm behind the beauty range, have claimed that the three sisters did not do enough to promote the products as had been agreed.

The Kardashian sisters are facing a $180million lawsuit

In court documents obtained by TMZ the investment firm, which took over the line in 2014, claims that when it initially agreed to invest in the line "after former distributor, Boldface, went belly up amidst legal and financial troubles".

The company reportedly agreed to fund the range in exchange for the three sisters continuing to "promote, market and support the line".

"The essence of the parties' bargain was that Hillair would put up millions of dollars to fund the continued distribution of the Kardashians' line, and the Kardashians would continue to be the faces of the line, and actively promote, market and support the line," read the records.

Hillair claims that while it has since invested over $10million in the products, Kourtney, Khloé and Kim supposedly did not endorse the products, for example across their social media accounts where they each count millions of followers respectively. Instead, the lawsuit claims that the three sisters "immediately stopped marketing, promoting and supporting the line" and began "courting new potential investors".

The suit claims the sisters did not actively promote the products

The company says that it has "suffered significant damage" and is seeking to pursue a jury trial, in which they are demanding damages including their $10million investment as well as the value of their equity interest in the range, estimated to be "between $64million and $180million".

Kim's attorney Michael Kump has since spoken out about the lawsuit, describing it as a "disgrace".

"This complaint is an obvious attempt to create leverage by hedge fund operators who took over the Kardashians' cosmetics brand," Michael Kump told Entertainment Tonight. "The Kardashians have suffered enormous damages as a result of the many failures and breaches created by the operator's mismanagement of the company. The lawsuit is a disgrace. It is a jumble of false accusations which will be exposed as lies."
