Matthew Lewis had Millie Bobby Brown give his tattoo her seal of approval

In the photo, Matthew and Millie pose mock expressions of excitement as he shows her the "XI" inking on his forearm, which matches the name of Millie's character 'Eleven' on Stranger Things. While the Me Before You star has had the tattoo for a while, he quipped that it was actually inspired by the young actress' performance on the drama.

"A lot of people ask what my tattoo means. Now you know," he joked to his one million followers in the photo's accompanying caption. "@milliebobby_brown #XI #Eleven."

Millie plays Eleven in Stranger Things

There's no doubt that Stranger Things has had phenomenal success since debuting on Netflix earlier this year.

The sci-fi horror series sees 12-year-old Will Byers disappearing in mysterious circumstances, causing the police chief and his mother Joyce, played by Winona Ryder, to confront supernatural forces in order to get him back. Meanwhile, Will's friends discover a psychokinetic girl, played by Millie, and uncover the truth behind a sinister government agency.

For Millie, the role came with a dramatic makeover, as she was asked to shave her head to get into character – and while she herself wasn't too worried, she has admitted her mother was initially reluctant.

"My mum's reaction was like, 'Oh my god, nooo! I don't want you to do it! Please don't do it!'" she told IndieWire. "And my and my dad were like, 'Mum it's okay! It's just my head!'"

When it came to sitting in the salon chair, Millie admitted that she started to worry, but that when she saw the final result, she was happy to have made the change. "It was the best decision I've ever, ever made," she revealed.
