Stuck in a make-up rut? Beauty Editor Nadine Baggott gets the lowdown on how to create the ultimate party look from YouTube maestros Pixiwoos. Find the full story in HELLO!, out now.
If your party make-up is simply an extra layer of mascara or bright lipstick, it's time to get creative with colour again.
"Remember that make-up should be fun; it should lift your mood and make you feel good about yourself," says Sam Chapman, one half of YouTube's most successful make-up tutorial team, Pixiwoo. "In fact it should be almost as much fun getting ready as it is being at the party. You don't have to be a supermodel to wear make-up well. And it all washes off at the end of the night, so why not experiment?"
HELLO! talked party season beauty with YouTube maestros Pixiwoos
With that thought in mind, HELLO! sat down with Sam and her sister Nic – her Pixiwoo partner – and asked them to share some top party-prep products.
"We try everything so we know what works for us, but we have different faces and favourite looks," says Nic. "My favourite party look is smoky eyes and a nude lip as I don't have particularly large lips. Also, I like to have a drink, so I don't want to worry about smudging a red lip."
Sam and Nic want you to discover that make-up, even party make-up, is easier than it looks.
Sam and Nic wrote their book Face to share step-by-step make-up tutorials
"It's why we wrote the book Face. Yes, it's a how-to guide to creating great make-up, but download the app and scan the pages and you get easy-to-follow, step-by-step tutorials that you can stop at any time, follow, rewind and replay."
If you want more inspiration, read Face by Pixiwoo, £20. Its app is designed to bring each look to life on your mobile as a step-by-step, real-time tutorial that can be easily updated.
The Pixiwoo Present: Hollywood Icons DVD, £14.99, features more re-creations of classic Hollywood looks.
